Giving Options

Each gift is a personal and generous act. The Foundation offers a variety of convenient giving options, enabling your method of giving to be as suitable as your reasons for doing so. You may choose to have your donation directed to a specific area or facility, for instance, Palliative Care or Dufferin Place; or you may opt to contribute to our General Fund, which supports the hospital's areas of greatest immediate need. We accept cash donations, on-going contributions or pledges, gifts of securities, and bequests. We welcome and encourage tribute gifts.

Gifts of Cash

Cash is the easiest, fastest way to give. We will gratefully accept your donation in person, by mail or email, or via the phone with a credit card. A tax receipt will automatically be issued by mail for gifts of $20 or more and by request for lesser amounts.

Pledged Gifts

Make your donation on an installment plan and choose your own payment schedule - monthly, quarterly or annually. You may also arrange monthly donations through pre-authorized bank transfers or your credit card. A tax receipt will be generated annually by mail unless you request otherwise - please contact us.

Gifts of Securities* (stocks, bonds, mutual funds)

Making a donation by transferring ownership of a publicly traded security offers valuable tax benefits. Plus, in May 2006, the Federal Government eliminated capital gains tax on gifts of securities to registered charities - doubling your charitable tax benefits. So now it really doesn't cost you to donate shares!

*Note: It is the policy at the Nanaimo & District Hospital Foundation to sell the gifted securities as soon as possible after we have received them, unless otherwise agreed upon at the time of the gift.

Bequests

Make a difference for future generations with a legacy gift. Contact us to discuss how we might best acknowledge your contribution to the community when you make a bequest to the Foundation in your Will.

Tribute Gifts

The milestones in our lives are often shared with those we hold dear or those who made a difference when it mattered. Making a contribution to the Foundation can be a meaningful way in which to mark those milestones. Honour a loved one or a medical professional by making a donation to support healthcare excellence in Central Vancouver Island. Perhaps, you would like to pay tribute with a Memorial Gift for a friend or family member who has passed away. The Foundation recognizes all Tribute Gifts with a tax receipt (if $20 or greater) and, if a Memorial Gift, with a card to family to let them know a Gift has been made in honour of their loved one.

Something new, the Foundation has just launched the Caring Cup Program. The Caring Cup is an interesting way in which to recognize healthcare professionals who have helped you, or your loved one, in a time of need. How does it work? For tax-deductible donation of $25, $50, or $100 you can recognize a healthcare professional who has gone beyond the call of duty. That professional will receive a beautifully designed Caring Cup card with a “thank you message” from you. Learn more about the Caring Cup Program.

Monthly Giving

Monthly giving is an affordable and convenient way to help support Nanaimo Regional General Hospital (NRGH). Pre-authorized gifts will help provide NRGH with a consistent source of support all year long to ensure the finest healthcare is available to Central Vancouver Island residents. Your monthly donations can be as little as $10 a month. Amazing that your donation of about 33¢ a day can do so much for your community. It is a cost-effective and convenient way to donate. Monthly donors also receive one tax receipt by mail for the total yearly amount they contribute. Monthly giving can be stopped at any time by contacting us and canceling your donations. Monthly gifts are easy to set up either as an electronic funds transfer or by credit card.

For an EFT directly from your account please provide a void cheque and complete the Monthly Giving Enrollment Form to allow us to set up this monthly donation.
