New Renal Dialysis Centre
help us raise $540,000 for critically needed equipment!
In April of 2009 the BC Government announced a commitment of $46.3 million for Emergency Department expansion, additional treatment rooms, and the development of a new Renal Dialysis Centre at Nanaimo Regional General Hospital (NRGH).
The Nanaimo & District Hospital Foundation recognized the importance of these invaluable projects and pledged $4.54 million towards their success.

New Renal Dialysis Centre overview
- NRGH is the
only regional hospital of its size in Canada that does not have a Renal Dialysis
Centre. Hundreds of Vancouver Island residents suffer from chronic
kidney disease and renal failure, and require dialysis.
- The new Renal Dialysis Centre will enable patients to seek treatment closer to home, saving travel-time, money, and discomfort.
- Work will begin in 2009, at a cost of $9.4 million, and take one year to complete.
- Twelve
new haemodialysis machines are required for the new Renal Dialysis
Centre, at a cost of $33,000 each. Find out more about haemodialysis machines and how they help keep patients with advanced kidney disease healthy and alive.
