June 18, 2012 – Nanaimo
The Kiwanis Club of Nanaimo Sunrisers continued their generous support of healthcare here at home with a $1,000 gift to the Nanaimo & District Hospital Foundation. The funds have been directed towards the purchase of lifesaving equipment in the new Emergency Department under construction at the Nanaimo Regional General Hospital (NRGH), set to open in the Fall of 2012. The group was motivated to support the cause because of the collective need of emergency medicine in the local community. Since 1992, the group has contributed more than $70,000 for equipment throughout NRGH and Dufferin Place. The Kiwanis Sunrisers are a bastion of the Nanaimo community with events throughout the year, including Kids Appreciation Day at Departure Bay Water Park, July 7th; the 26th Annual Bullhead Fishing Derby at Brechin Point, August 12th; fundraising BBQs and Christmas parties for special needs youth.
