The Abreast of Life Dragon Boat Team, the longest running dragon boat team in Nanaimo, delivers $4,500 to NRGH Medical Imaging Department.
The Abreast of Life dragon boat team paddles for more than the cause, it is personal. Each team member has survived breast cancer and has pledged to fight the disease through fundraising and awareness. As a result of their July golf tournament at Arrowsmith Golf Course the team donated $4,500 to the Nanaimo & District Hospital Foundation. The funds will help purchase a new Breast MRI attachment for Nanaimo Regional General Hospital’s (NRGH) Medical Imaging Department.
The team practices at Nanoose Bay and is focused on having fun and supporting one another. Abreast of Life travels across the West Coast to compete and members hail from Central Island – from Qualicum Beach to Ladysmith. Breast cancer survivors wanting to join the fun, are encouraged to contact firstname.lastname@example.org or call Jean Sanderson at 250-586-6634 in Parksville.
