The Lakeside Gardens Retirement Community on Wellesley Avenue in Nanaimo held an “in-house Garage Sale” early last month. Approximately 100 residents participated by selling their unwanted items to their neighbours. It was a fun way to refresh personal living spaces and benefit a good cause. The group of neighbours decided to contribute their $300 profit to the Nanaimo & District Hospital Foundation for the purchase of needed medical equipment. Participant Barbara Angus was upbeat when she explained, “At our age group we will all probably take advantage of the hospital sometime.” Amber Adams, of the Foundation, was very grateful to the residents, “We are delighted that Lakeside Gardens thought of the hospital when they had a gift to give. What a beautiful spot to live, looking over Long Lake, and what a charming group of generous people. Thank you!”
