Mid-Island Rose Society made a special delivering to the Nanaimo & District Hospital Foundation thanks to their annual spring plant sale. For the third year in a row the membership directed a portion of their fundraising to equipment purchases at Nanaimo Regional General Hospital (NRGH). This year, $500 will help afford needed equipment for two new operating rooms at NRGH. The Foundation is raising $1.5 million to equip two O.R.s. Society President and Master Gardner, Barbara Samarin, explained the group’s motivation “The feeling is, at some point in our lives we all need to use the hospital, usually in a crisis. Most of our group has experienced and recovered from a variety of illnesses and they are so grateful; they hold the hospital staff in the highest regard and want to help.”
