The Nanaimo & District Shrine Club #10 made a special visit to the Nanaimo & District Hospital Foundation earlier this month to deliver a substantial donation towards the purchase of an Ultrasound Transducer for Neonatal infants staying at NRGH. The Transducer gives ultrasound images of an infant's abdomen, brain, and spine. The group raised their generous $7,000 donation through Bingo proceeds in Harewood.
Shriners are specifically focused on caring for the needs of children undergoing medical treatment. Amber Adams, of the Foundation, said "the Shriners support goes a long way to helping children facing health crises right here on Vancouver Island, their support is very much appreciated by family and staff". There are 400,000 Shriners in 191 Chapters across North and Central America raising money to help children with medical needs.
