As a result, partners Norm McNabb, Bruce MacDonald, and Merilee Winslow together with their families contributed $16,000 towards the purchase of a new defibrillator for the ED. They selected the defibrillator because of personal experience. Mr. McNabb has needed a defibrillator at NRGH while Ms. Winslow and Mr. MacDonald have each had family members require the equipment. A defibrillator can bring a stopped heart back to life.
Maeve O’Byrne, Foundation President, said “this is a significant contribution to the hospital’s Emergency Department as it will literally save lives. It is a wonderful ‘pay if forward’ tribute when donors know the benefit of such equipment and make sure others will have access in the future. We are very grateful.” Mr. McNabb noted that they “wanted to help because we have all used, or will be using, the hospital,” adding, “we would like to challenge other businesses to make a difference at our local hospital by donating to the Emergency Department Fund.”
