The RBC Foundation continues its vision to build stronger communities by supporting the needs of Vancouver Island residents. On January 26th RBC delivered a $20,000 gift to the Nanaimo & District Hospital Foundation in support of equipment purchases for two new Operating Rooms at Nanaimo Regional General Hospital (NRGH). The two new surgical theatres mean NRGH will now have ten rooms for patients using surgical services. This will help accommodate emergency and urgent surgeries and lessen the risk of pre-scheduled surgeries being cancelled.
Kelly Bissell, RBC Regional Vice President of North Vancouver Island, explained “We are very proud to continue supporting our community through our partnership with the Hospital Foundation. Nanaimo Regional General Hospital serves each person on Central Vancouver Island from birth, to emergency visits, surgeries, and elder care; it reaches everyone. This RBC Foundation gift is possible thanks to our clients, who will also benefit from this investment into our hospital.”
RBC gave $104 million last year in sponsorships and donations around the globe, more than half went to Canadian charitable initiatives. Not-for-profit organizations related to healthcare initiatives, sports and civic services, environmental protection, arts and culture, as well as education also benefitted from RBC’s proactive approach to building stronger communities. Since partnering with Foundation RBC has contributed more than $260,000 to the health and wellness of Vancouver Islanders.
