The Royal Canadian Legion Mount Benson Branch #256 marked the end of the year with a sizable contribution to the Nanaimo & District Hospital Foundation. The group gave $3,500 towards the purchase of cystoscopes for Nanaimo Regional General Hospital (NRGH). Cystoscopes aid in the diagnosis of bladder and prostate issues, including cancers, and a single scope will cost $15,000. Branch #256 Legion supports projects that address the medical needs of veterans and over the years the group has donated almost $90,000 to the Foundation to this end.
Amber Adams, of the Foundation, noted “Legion members work throughout the year to fundraise for our hospital. They make informed decisions as to what equipment will best help veterans and then diligently work to see that equipment purchased and in place. The Foundation is able to accomplish so much more with their help.”
