The Royal Canadian Legion Mount Benson Branch #256 continues to make the Emergency Department a priority and recently delivered a $2,500 donation to bring their ER Fund contribution to more than $17,500. The group has given close to $75,000 in its giving history with the Hospital Foundation. President Joseph Briand said “the greatest thing you can give to a community is a hospital, because it benefits the entire community.”
The New Emergency Department Expansion is set to open by September 2012 and the Nanaimo & District Hospital Foundation is raising $4 million for the purchase of life saving equipment. The Legion 256’s support has been monumental as they continue to benefit areas that help veterans’ health and wellness. The Foundation’s Director of Donor Relations, Amber Adams, said “the dedication of Legion 256 has been an incredible help to not only the Emergency Department, but to the entire hospital. The group’s good works are reflected in the equipment and services available to veterans and the Foundation is extremely grateful for this partnership.”
