Tim Hortons restaurants across Canada sell one dollar “smile cookies” for a week every September. The funds raised help hundreds of charities across the country. In Nanaimo, smile cookie contributions fund life-saving equipment for the Nanaimo Regional General Hospital (NRGH).
This year, Tim Hortons staff delivered more than $21,000 to Janice Perrino, CEO of the Nanaimo & District Hospital Foundation. The donation will add to the Foundation’s efforts to raise $500,000 for its inaugural Christmas Campaign and purchase one of two new CT Scanners for the Medical Imaging Department at NRGH.
Dave Milne, one of the local Tim Hortons’ franchisees, credits “Our guests and our staff. They made this donation possible.” Milne added, “The hospital is used by all of us, we hope this will help.”
