The Ladysmith Health Care Auxiliary has funded the purchase of 10 nurse carts for the new Emergency Department at Nanaimo Regional General Hospital.

Thanks to all of the Project Linus volunteer quilters, organizer Evelyn McNabb recently donated 30 beautiful, hand-crafted blankets to the Foundation for the Neonatal Unit at NRGH.

The Wolf and the Wave radio stations, part of Island Radio, held a “Text for Life” fundraiser in October 2012 and raised $355 to help fund equipment for the new Emergency Department now open at Nanaimo Regional General Hospital (NRGH).

Rotary Club of Nanaimo Daybreak donated $500 to the Nanaimo & District Hospital Foundation for the P.A.R.T.Y. Program, but many Daybreak Rotarians also volunteer their time during the P.A.R.T.Y. Program.

The Executive officers of the Nanaimo Auxiliary to NRGH presented $245,000 to the Nanaimo & District Hospital Foundation at their recent AGM. The volunteer group has contributed to the health and wellness of Nanaimoites for more than a century.

The Rotary Club of Nanaimo recently visited the new Trauma Bay at NRGH’s Emergency Department to deliver a “wonderful” donation of $50,000.

The Parksville Qualicum Beach Shrine Club donated $2,850 donation for children in the Paediatric Unit at NRGH.

The Admitting & Patient Flow Team at NRGH showed their team spirit in a “casual way”. By paying a twoonie each week, department staff was allowed to wear jeans every Friday. As a result they collected $180 for a good cause.

The Nanaimo & District Hospital Foundation recently recognized Thrifty Foods with a plaque on the Platinum Philanthropist Donor Wall for their outstanding contributions to healthcare on Central Vancouver Island. Four stores serve Central Island and host fundraising events throughout the year. Since 1998 Thrifty Foods has reached the platinum level by giving more than $150,000 in support of lifesaving equipment and services that will benefit their customers and staff.

Royal Canadian Legion Branch #256 recently donated $2,000 to the Nanaimo Lifeline Silent Guardian Fund in order to help veterans and their families receive Lifeline Services.

The Longwood Ladies Knitting Group raised $300 for the new Emergency Department at Nanaimo Regional General Hospital (NRGH).

Dan Zapotichny of Longwood Station Thrifty Foods and Mikel Knuttson from Port Place Mall deliver $4,138 to Brenda Rositano, Director of Corporate Relations at the Nanaimo & District Hospital Foundation. The gift was raised during their pumpkin sales in October.

Evelyn and Larry McNabb from Project Linus delivered 40 beautifully handcrafted quilts for children visiting the Paediatric and Neonatal Units at NRGH.

Five year old Mikayla and seven year old Jacob Windley held a joint birthday asking friends to bring donations rather than gifts and raised $959 for Paediatric Unit at Nanaimo Regional General Hospital (NRGH).

Long & McQuade stores in Nanaimo and Victoria donated $2,400 to the Paediatric Unit at NRGH thanks to their annual Music Therapy Drive held in November and December.

Woodgrove Centre presents $500 to the Nanaimo City Wave Babes during their recent “Think Pink When You Go Green” fundraiser for the purchase of breast cancer detection and treatment equipment at NRGH.
