Early Bird Cutoff for Lotto for Life is Approaching

We are always thrilled to hear about the progress made with the funds raised during Lotto for Life.” North Town Centre will play host to the Final Draw of the annual lottery on March 31st, but do not miss the Early Bird cutoff on February 15th. All tickets are $100, but a total of only 5,000 tickets are available; purchasers are encouraged to act fast, 50% are already sold. The 2012 hospital lottery will help purchase lifesaving equipment for the New Emergency Department currently under construction at the Nanaimo Regional General Hospital (NRGH). The new facility will triple the size of the current Emergency Department and is described as a “flagship” in emergency medicine. Lotto proceeds will buy much needed equipment such as defibrillators, ventilators, specialized psychiatric furnishings, and vital sign monitors.

More than 55,000 visitors sought medical attention in the NRGH Emergency Department last year; it is the busiest Emergency Department on Vancouver Island.

The New Department will open by September 2012 and offer both emergency and psychiatric services in one Department.
