The donation will help equip two new Operating Rooms at NRGH.
The Nanaimo Auxiliary to NRGH (Nanaimo Regional General Hospital) are a dedicated core of volunteers 270 strong. They can be found delivering books, offering help at the Information Desk, or directing patients in one of the many departments at NRGH they serve. You will also find Auxiliary volunteers raising funds through sales at their NRGH Gift Store and their Auxiliary Thrift Store.
As a result of their hard work the Nanaimo Auxiliary to NRGH delivered an incredible gift of $250,000 to the Nanaimo & District Hospital Foundation in support of local healthcare. The donation has been directed towards equipment purchases for two new Operating Rooms (O.R.s) at NRGH. This means the Auxiliary has contributed a total of $500,000 to help expand Surgical Suites over the last two years. As is their tradition, the group also made donations to several NRGH Departments for “patient comfort” items, and also funded the renovations in the hospital’s Chapel.
While the Nanaimo Auxiliary to NRGH donation is a monumental accomplishment, the Auxiliary also marked an historic milestone for the organization when the membership elected Philip Robling President at the March 16th AGM. Robling is the first male president in the organization’s 115 year history.
