As a result, the FOHS of BC donated $10,000 to the Foundation for the purchase of two nurse carts and a stretcher for the NRGH Emergency, the busiest “ER” on Vancouver Island. Nurse carts will be present in every patient room and will be uniformly outfitted with medical equipment for efficient use. The new space will nearly triple in size, adding several exam rooms which will require new more than a dozen new stretchers.
The FOHS of BC was established in 1973, giving heart patients a way to share experiences with those facing the same health concerns. The group holds a variety of annual fundraising events including the Heart Walk. They also provide educational information related to heart health, have regular meetings, and support patients and families at Heart House in Victoria.
