“Our local hospital is the number one thing we need to support,” says Jim Gain co-owner of Gain Foods, adding “sometime along the line you are going to use it.” Jim, together with his wife Roxanne and son David delivered a $1,000 donation to Lynda Fielder, manager of Code Brew Coffee Kiosk located in the Nanaimo Regional General Hospital (NRGH) lobby. Code Brew is owned and operated by the Nanaimo & District Hospital Foundation and all net proceeds help purchase needed medical equipment for NRGH.
The family-run bakery was motivated to support the Foundation because NRGH has been the family’s hospital through the birth of children and necessary medical treatment throughout the years. Gain Foods has been supplying Nanaimo businesses with homemade baked goods since 2003 and were glad to be able to give back to their community.
