Joanna Donkers and Esther Watson are not only neigbours they are talented crafters that put their expertise to good work. The two made handmade blankets, scarves, and baby outfits to sell at the annual Country Club Christmas Craft Sale during the first week of November. As a result they raised $500 for the Nanaimo & District Hospital Foundation; this generous amount will be directed towards the Paediatric Unit at Nanaimo Regional General Hospital (NRGH). The two also shared their generosity with homeless causes including the Salvation Army, St. Vincent de Paul Society, and Haven House. Brenda Rositano, from the Foundation said “this gift is a labour of love and their consideration of children in Hospital is truly inspiring." The ladies also dropped off 24 extra-small knit caps made for the Neonatal Unit at NRGH.
