The Nanaimo Regional General Hospital (NRGH) has some very dedicated employees as was evident Saturday February 5th, 2011. After months of careful preparation the inaugural Hockey for Life took place at Frank Crane Arena. Ticket holders welcomed the Canuck Alumni Team who took to the ice in a friendly, but competitive game against the NRGH Emergency Room Team. Doctors, nurses, and tech specialists with hockey skills laced up in an effort to raise funds for the Emergency Department Expansion at NRGH. Proceeds from the Hockey for Life Event will be shared between the Nanaimo & District Hospital Foundation and BC Children’s Hospital. The Nanaimo & District Hospital Foundation is raising $4 million towards the $36.9 million cost of the Expansion, which is set to open in 2012.
