The MacIntyre’s raised a total of $2,600 at their annual “Jimmy’s Gone Crazy” remnants sale in March.
Pi Granite owners Yvonne and James MacIntyre had a little fun selling granite “remnants” at their annual “Jimmy’s Gone Crazy” fundraising event in March. For the third year in the row Pi Granite opened the gates of its McGarrigle Road lot and let customers take leftover granite to use for creative crafts and small renovation projects. This year the MacIntyres asked customers to contribute a donation in exchange for the stone and the results surpassed the couple’s expectations.
Yvonne explained, “The Nanaimo & District Hospital Foundation and the Nanaimo SPCA are my two favourite charities and we were able to raise $1,300 for each thanks to the generosity of our customers. One gentleman just turned out his pockets and gave us everything he had, it was just incredible”. The event received promotion from the Wave Radio Station and James expressed his gratitude for such hometown support, “Our community supports us and our business, therefore we like to give to local organizations that benefit our customers and our community. Our focus is local and 100% of the money raised was donated.”
