Lakeside Gardens’ residents held their 2nd annual “in-house Garage Sale” in November. More than 100 people, including residents and their family and friends, turned out to buy and sell treasures all for a good cause. Many of the items were priced at .25 cents, so when the tally reached almost $300 the group was delighted to call on the Hospital Foundation to deliver the donation to Nanaimo Regional General Hospital (NRGH). The gift will help purchase much needed cystoscopes for the Urology Department at NRGH. Cystoscopes help Urologists see inside of a patient’s bladder to detect several medical issues including bladder cancer and prostate disease. Furthermore, all leftover items were delivered to the Nanaimo Auxiliary to NRGH Thrift Store on Turner Road; all proceeds from the Thrift Store also support NRGH.
