“I am thrilled to help raise the bar for our Hospital,” say Rhonda. “Everyone knows someone who has needed or will need to use its Emergency Services. I look forward to helping supply some of the essential equipment that will help our medical professionals to save lives.”
Rhonda is also a local REALTOR® with RE/MAX of Nanaimo and operates under the brand Heaslip Homes. The Vancouver Island Real Estate Board (VIREB) has embraced the cause and will support Rhonda’s efforts by encouraging other Realtors in Central Vancouver Island to make a donation towards the Emergency Department Expansion. “Realtors in our communities give back in so many ways,” says VIREB President Jim Stewart. “Rhonda’s enthusiasm is so infectious that we hope it will quickly spread and help her exceed the fundraising goal. We are going to do our bit by encouraging brokerage houses with a friendly competition to see who can raise the most!”
“This is one of the most unique fundraising activities that have been held for the benefit of our Hospital,” says Maeve O’Byrne. “We are immensely grateful for Rhonda’s passion and enthusiasm for the new Emergency Department Expansion and wish her success in meeting her fundraising goal.”
The $36.9 million Emergency Department Expansion is already underway and much progress has been made towards an anticipated opening in the fall of 2012 The Nanaimo & District Hospital Foundation has committed to raising $4 million for critically needed equipment.
