Long & McQuade Managers, Shaun Wilson (Victoria) and Jason Friesen (Nanaimo) present $2,400 to Kelly Raymond (center), Child Life Specialist at NRGH, thanks to their Music Therapy Drive in November and December.
Long & McQuade recently wrapped up their 6th annual Music Therapy Fundraising Drive across Canada. From November 1st to December 31st Long & McQuade stores invited customers to make a donation. In Nanaimo and Victoria donations were directed towards the Nanaimo & District Hospital Foundation for the Paediatric Unit at Nanaimo Regional General Hospital (NRGH). In return, donors received a $5 rental coupon for Long & McQuade.
This is the first year the Vancouver Island branches of Long & McQuade have elected to direct their donation towards a local Island hospital and together, store managers Shaun Wilson (Victoria) and Jason Friesen (Nanaimo) presented $2,400 to Kelly Raymond, Child Life Specialist at NRGH. The funds will help establish and continue creative programs that provide outlets for children facing health crises. Both managers emphasized the importance of their clientele during the fundraising drive. Friesen said, “Our network of musicians are very supportive and we simply want to thank them for helping to provide the healing power of music to children.” Wilson added, “We couldn’t do it without our customers, they truly facilitated this donation.”
