Photo, from left to right: Denise Pond, Clinical Coordinator in Paediatric Unit at NRGH, receives $120 gift from birthday boy Matthias Hannesson.
Matthias Hannesson looks up to his older sisters Katrin and Ella. In fact, they inspired Matthias to ask guests to bring a donation rather than a gift to his fifth birthday party earlier this month; the girls had done as much at their own parties earlier this year. As a result, young Matthias and his friends raised $120 for the Nanaimo & District Hospital Foundation. His gift will be directed towards the Paediatric Unit at Nanaimo Regional General Hospital (NRGH) for the comfort and care of sick children.
Teresa Hannesson is proud that her children are eager to share with those going through health crises, noting “my children are so fortunate and they want to share that good fortune”.
