Throughout the year the Nanaimo Lions’ Club works diligently to help some of the city’s most vulnerable citizens. Club members then take comfort in delivering needed funds to support causes that make a difference. Lions Club members, Leslie Smith and Betty Anne Herbert, recently delivered two gifts of $1,000 each to the Palliative Care Unit at Nanaimo Regional General Hospital (NRGH) and to Nanaimo Lifeline to benefit the Silent Guardian Fund.
The Palliative Unit aids patients needing end of life care and the $1,000 gift will help purchase a new “evolve mattress” that will offer added comfort to patients spending extended periods of time in bed. The $1,000 gift to Nanaimo Lifeline’s Silent Guardian Fund will help fund Lifeline services for individuals that are medically at-risk, but financially restricted. Lifeline is a personal emergency response program, learn more at www.nanaimohospitalfoundation.com/lifeline
