The residents at Harbour Towers on Mount Benson Street, together with Bowen Park Recreation Centre, Quiznos locations, and Realty Executives have delivered a generous donation to the Nanaimo & District Hospital Foundation to support the needs of patients at Nanaimo Regional General Hospital (NRGH). Organizer Gordon Loudon collects bottles from the participating venues and returns them for a profit. He works diligently all year, and then donates the proceeds to the Hospital.
This year, the group gave $900 to the Paediatric Unit. Since 2009, $3,270 in donations has been raised through bottle recycling. Feron Walker, of the Hospital Foundation, said, “This gift is possible through a lot of hard work, and thoughtful consideration by businesses that save their bottles. Thank you hardly seems enough, but we are extremely grateful that the residents, the businesses, and Gordon make this happen.”
