Throughout the year the Parksville Qualicum Beach Elks Club #589 diligently fundraises to support healthcare initiatives on Central Island and beyond. While the group focuses their attention on the national needs of children facing speech, hearing, and communication disorders they never forget their local communities.
The group recently delivered two gifts of $500 each to Heather Popple, Board Director for the Nanaimo & District Hospital Foundation, in support of a new CT Scanner at Nanaimo Regional General Hospital (NRGH) and an ultrasound machine at Oceanside Health Centre in Parksville.
The Elks’ organization was founded in BC in 1912 and members are guided by their motto, “Promoting and Serving Community Needs”. Men and women are welcome to join the PQB Elks Club by calling Ralph Bunker @ 250-752-0322. Furthermore, Ralph can be contacted for information regarding the use of their children’s camp on Denman Island. The sleep-over camp is available to groups who focus on the needs of children. k here to edit.
