The retired Canadian National Railway Employees of Vancouver Island, North of Duncan, helped equip two new operating rooms at NRGH with a $400 gift.
The Canadian National Railway (CNR) Pensioners on Central Vancouver Island recently contributed $400 to the Nanaimo & District Hospital Foundation in order to help equip two new operating rooms (O.R.s) at Nanaimo Regional General Hospital (NRGH). The new O.R.s means that there are now ten Surgical Suites at NRGH. The increase will help decrease late-night surgeries, facilitate patients returning home earlier after day surgery, and reduce the likelihood of pre-scheduled surgeries being cancelled. Each pensioner donates monthly to their charitable fund and the group then selects a local charity to help.
