The Quality Foods Canadian Open Sand Sculpting Competition and Exhibition broke all records during its 2015 event this past summer. The Hospital Foundation was proud to be part of the historical occasion as one of 19 not-for-profits who benefited from donations gathered at the gate. Twenty-five Foundation Volunteers enjoyed the sunny weather greeting people from around the world, during their four shifts.
Almost 105,000 people, more than any other year, visited the world-class sand sculpting event and monies raised through gate admissions was turned into donations for local charities. The Foundation was presented with a gift of $1,600 to help purchase a new Ultrasound Machine for Oceanside Health Centre. Feron Walker, of the Foundation, said “We had a fantastic time as volunteers and were equally impressed with the event itself. There is such an enthusiastic camaraderie during the Exhibition and it was a pleasure to take part. The generosity and kindness shown to the Foundation and our volunteers is truly appreciated. Above all, this will support essential equipment for Oceanside communities, making life better for many. Thank you.”
