Planning a family garage sale is always a hectic occasion. It is hard enough to part with beloved toys and household items, but putting a price tag on memories is next to impossible. However, Valerie O'Donnell wasn't surprised when her nine-year-old daughter Lindsey was not only willing to sell precious keepsakes she had plans to turn the sale into a fundraising opportunity. For the second year in a row, Lindsey industriously setup an ice tea and cookie stand at the family's garage sale with strict instructions to patrons that cost was "by donation" for the Nanaimo & District Hospital Foundation. All tallied, Lindsey collected $28.25 for the Nanaimo Regional General Hospital (NRGH).
Amber Adams, of the Foundation said, "Lindsey's generosity and hard work is truly appreciated; it is wonderful to see a young person recognize a worthy cause and take action."
