More than $16,000 was raised during the 7th annual Run for Life May 30th thanks to the hard work of participants like seven year old Sarah Carey. Sarah was recently recognized as the top youth fundraiser for the event; the grade 2 Nanaimo student at Randerson Ridge Elementary collected $245 in pledges in support of Nanaimo Regional General Hospital (NRGH).
The fun 5km run is jointly hosted by Central Vancouver Island Financial Institutions and benefits the Nanaimo & District Hospital Foundation's effort to provide outstanding healthcare to the Central Island. 2010 proceeds will help fund the new Emergency Expansion at NRGH. Sarah and her mother, who happens to be a NRGH Emergency Room nurse, completed the Run together.
