Yoga for Life enthusiasts create healthcare harmony.
Yoga enthusiasts gathered at John Barsby School in March to attend the Yoga for Life fundraiser for the Nanaimo & District Hospital Foundation’s efforts to equip the new Emergency Department now under construction at Nanaimo Regional General Hospital (NRGH). More than 200 participants filled the space with yoga mats and enjoyed a personal lesson from Moksha Yoga co-founder, Ted Grand.
Participants raised funds through registration and pledges and funds far exceeded expectation. Organizers, Dana Ellis (RMT) and Dr. Kristen Butler were thrilled with the response and announced the Yoga for Life event would contribute more than $6,250 towards equipment purchases in the new Emergency Department. “When we are healthy, strong and able, we have this wonderful chance to do something amazing for our world and it can start with our own community.” says Dr. Kristen Butler, of Island Optimal Health & Performance and Moksha Yoga Nanaimo. “Emergency health care services save lives and we wanted to help support the expansion and improvement of the busiest emergency department on Vancouver Island.” If you would like to learn more about Moksha Yoga visit www.MokshaYogaNanaimo.com
