Young donor shows his compassion by donating $115 to the Hospital Foundation for the Paediatric Unit at NRGH.
When Tylin Chartand hosted his 7th birthday he was less concerned with presents for himself and more concerned with the children staying in hospital. The grade 2 student resolved to use his special day as a way to fundraise for sick kids at Nanaimo Regional General Hospital (NRGH). He instructed each party guest to bring a cash donation rather than a gift for him, the response was overwhelming and the young donor delivered $115 to the Nanaimo & District Hospital Foundation to be directed to the Paediatric Unit at NRGH for patient comfort. Tylin’s father Darcy Chartand beamed, “I am pretty amazed that the idea came out, he really pursued it. I am very proud.”
